Multi Battery Isolator Model 1043

Postby JimB on Sat Nov 01, 2014 9:35 am

I have a multi-battery isolator model 1043, serial 154. for one alternator, 3 batteries, max current 70?

This was installed either by Catalina Yachts or previous owner on a 1987 C-34 sail boat. As there was no documentation for this devise, I removed it. I am now installing a new DC panel and wondering if I should reinstall the isolator or replace it or do nothing. If anyone can provide me with install directions for this devise or otherwise offer suggestions it will be appreciated. Ample Power does not have directions and suggested I contact the forum.

Thank you

Instructions for isolators are usually marked on the unit. The input is from the alternator, and the outputs go to battery banks.

However, isolators cause more problems and solve none. See this URL for more informaton:

Th there are no instructions on the isolator which has 4 posts. I read the link and did not see how the recommended set up would include an AC battery charger. If I am reading you correctly, I will be better off not using this devise, yes or no.
