B70IS? What is this?

Postby JamesA on Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:13 pm

I bought a boat with the electrical system torn out and I'm in process of piecing things back together. Luckily, in a box I found an ample power alternator, smart charge manager and NS2 regulator. Also a heat sinked device with 3 posts labeled B70IS/B70I121. I have documentation on the manager & regulator, but nothing on the B70. What is this, please? And is there a diagram that shows its relation to the other products? Thanks

Update: To clarify, my mystery item has an Ample Technology sticker on it. Another sticker that has 'B70IS/B70I121' then a digram that has 'BAT-1 ALT BAT-2' )(3 posts) then '70 AMPS'

That's a battery isolator which splits the charge from the alternator to two batteries. These are no longer recommended. A better option is to use the parallel solenoid driven by the regulator.
