Regulator control in gas charge mode

I have a 900AH (lifeline)house bank being charge controlled by a V3 and DAC. Dixie DelStar Alternator output rated at 200A each(assuming correct rpm and temp).
Testing new installation : Batteries at 62% capacity, 23.8 to 24v and house draw at 75A.
Started engines at 650rpm and noted regulator indicated "Gas Charge" mode.
Alternators providing sufficient current to cover house (75A) and an additional 103A charge current. Total of 178A output.
Increased the RPM to 1250 and the charge current remained around 107A even though the alternators are easily capable of supplying 175A each at this rpm.
Is this result to be expected, ie. is the charge current limited to approx 107A based on the battery/regulator parameters, or is there something else going on?
If it is regulator/DAC controlled, is the charge current shared by both alternators?
