feed back on work sheet

Postby jim hartman on Tue Nov 09, 2010 2:22 pm

after working thru the worksheet on trouble shooting all of the numbers were proper except the field voltage . i got ignition off 218 mv ignition on 85 mv
and engine running .39 volts , i put momentary power 12 volts to the field wire after disconecting it from the next step regulator and it generated output
with the engine running . i can only guess that the regulator is bad, the serial number on the unit i have is n13030-cy
your reply i will await jim hartman

Please don't start a new post each time - reply to out post.

It looks like the ignition input to the regulator is not at battery voltage when the ignition switch in on. The regulator won't wok without it.

the voltage is 12 .5volts with ignition on and slightly higher with engine running12.7 but there is not voltage going out to the field circut from the regulator

if you say that the voltage is not right what should a 12 volt battery read that is slightly discharged jim

Previously you said that the voltage on the ignition input was .39 with the engine running.

We need all the measurements from the troubleshooting guide to offer any more advice.

i am sorry for the misscomunication i had said that all of the numbers on the trouble shooting sheet were normal except for the field voltage out to the alternator with ignition on read 85 milivolts and with engine running the voltage reading was .39 volts

You can send it in for repair, about $175.00 or replace it with an NS2. There is a trade-in allowance.

Contact Ruth for details.
