intermittent shut down...

Postby River Marine on Fri Sep 10, 2010 10:32 am

Recently, I had a customer install a NS2 on his boat. It runs well, but ocassionally shuts down and restarts itself, running through the bulk stage then absorption. System checks to date show no indication of shut down of on/off signal, nor of B+. The on/off signal is fired off an oil pressure switch. System was installed by John at Trilight, and he witnessed this malfunction once. Any ideas?

It may be losing power for a short period, maybe getting transients from an ignition system, or something is defective in the unit

Power comes in on B+. That should be connected near the batteries and not way upstream on a connection shared with other
gear.

B+ is connected directly to the battery after a fuse. John at Trilight has installed many many Ample Power systems, so I am having my doubts about his installation. Do you have any ideas how to test the unit?

Swap it out and send it back. We can put it on the test jig and monitor it.
