NS2 TB1 #5 OK to be hooked up to the electric fuel pump?

Postby DCampa on Mon Sep 26, 2011 10:37 pm

Is it OK to connect on the NS2, TB1 #5 the 12Volt that turns on the field output regulator to the electric fuel pump? The electric fuel pump comes on for 3 seconds then shuts off until the engine starts. I don't know if this would be hard on the NS2, to turn on for 3 seconds, then shut off and then turn back on when the engine starts. There are times when I have the ignition on and the engine not running for extended periods of time and I would rather have no current flowing through the field in these conditions. This is the only wire I can locate that becomes hot when the engine is started. Cant use the oil sending wire, it's a variable voltage since it's for a gauge and this vehicle has no idiot light for the oil pressure. Also how much current does this wire need or is it just a sensing wire with little or no current flow?
Thanks, DC

There is very little current needed for the on/off input.

Connecting it to the fuel pump wire should be OK. It won't hurt the NS2.
