I had a no field voltage problem similar to that of Liam D except mine is 24v and regulates one of twin regulators and twin regulators. All voltage measurements were as good except no field output. As last resort as you recommended I disconnected the B+ wire and reconnected after 30 seconds. Then I got an error message indicating runaway voltage before starting the engine. I started the engine and got initially erratic charging, then the unit settled into absorption mode at a steady 53 amp output. No other charging source present. What future service life would you project? My power cat is intended for extended offshore cruising.

This is a one time issue with set points which have to be initialized from the potentiometers. If power doesn't come up clean, then this can happen. This shouldn't be an issue for recent production.
