Mystery Alternator

I need help identify the model number of this alternator. The identification tag on the alternator is beat up. It was on an 1987 Yanmar, 4JHE. The mounting support is 2", instead of the more appropriate straddle support. Ay help would be appreciated. Attaching images.

It could be any small frame alternator since most manufacturers buy cases from the same casting company.

Ample alternators use more laminations in the stator and have hand wound stators with a heavier gauge wire that others. The pictures don't show this.

Attached is a photo of the alternator's label, supposedly an Ample Power Alternator. The M/N is difficult to read, but the last two digits appears to be 33, but might be 23. The alternator's rating appears to be: 30/105. Does this help?

OK, That's a #1023, replaced by the #4023. A saddle mount is #4023-S.

The particular unit does not have the saddle mount, but I wish it did. Would be at all practical to re-house (if there even is such an option) the guts into a saddle mount housing? Perhaps within the housing of a 4023-S?

The kit to change it is $98.00.

It includes the front case with bearing and rear saddle adapter, rear bearing, and brushes.

This is a great option. My hope is that should my primary alternator fail I could easily replace it with my spare; matching pulley placement, bolt placements, and wiring connectors/harness. Updating the 1023 (my spare) with the proposed kit, would that provide the replacement ease I seek, easily taking the place of the 4023-S (my primary)?

It should be just a swap - pull the failed unit, put in the spare.
