PSC 55-12

For issue regarding AC operated battery chargers and Smart Charge Manager.

PSC 55-12

Postby bIBS on Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:58 pm

My voltage went up into 15 + volts. I removed the one wire "phone plug", and the voltage went down to mid 12 volts. What is this one wire plug and what are the consequences leaving it unplug? Thanks, Bob

Do you have the Smart Charge Manager?

I'm not the boat, but I know it has a "Digital Echo Charge". Do we know what that "phone jack" with one green wire is for? I could not track the source of the green wire.
Thanks,

I got on the boat. With the PSC 55-12 I have a "Eliminator", Part # 1308 maybe just 308. Right next to it there is a little black box 3"X4" X 1" thick with no labling other than it is made by GE.
I plugged in the green 'phone' wire for about 15 min. The voltage on all three banks started at 12.75. After just 5 minutes the house batteries went up to 14.8 volts. The starter and gen set batteries went up to 13.36 and 13.75. When I unplugged the the 'phone' wire I noticed a drop in the speed of a fan/blower on my diesel furnace which I had running.
I left the 'phone' wire unplugged when I left the boat. I understand the the batteries under charge should be around 13+. I didn't like the 14+ when the 'phone' plug was inserted.
Appreciate the input.

Our Smart Charge Manager is bigger than that and certainly isn't made by GE.

As mentioned I do have an "Eliminator" which measures about 10" X 10" X 1" deep. Have you heard of this equipment?
Batts are at about 12.75 volts...this OK?
Thanks,
