need help with charging system

Postby Koala on Mon Apr 29, 2013 12:13 pm

Hello I’m glad I found your website, my power converter is not doing
its job and eats batteries continuously. I need sufficient power to run my
furnace (suburban) and fridge (dometic, 3 way but needs continuous dc to
run) besides all interior lights and a laptop for a 6 hour period on dc only daily.
. I plan on placing a solar panel onto the roof ( plenty of
room) to supplement my van charging system when of grid. Perhaps you can
recommend the appropriate wattage for this. My question is
regarding the smart charger. I am somewhat overwhelmed with the many
different kinds and ratings and don’t really know where to start
choosing one. Ideally, when AC is available all my appliances with work and my batteries are \
charged and when I'm off grid my solar panel does
what AC power is doing.
Could you kindly recommend one that is suited for my set up please. with
kindest regards,
dk

If you're OK with inserting a plug occasionally to get a full charge, an inexpensive option is the PSC55-12 without the Smart Charge controller, See: http://www.amplepower.com/products/chrg/index.html
