Did you notice that I answered your questions 2 posts ago. I wrote 2 posts in a row and your response made me think you may have missed the first where I answered your earlier questions. Dick

What is the power being generated when the problem arises? Power is Volts times Amps.

Have you tried to increase the RPM with throttle arm?

It is more likely to bog down at about 2000 watts (145a @ 13.8v) early in the charging cycle. The least power the unit has bogged down with was at 1700 watts (120a @ 14.4v), this after running for 45 minutes starting at full load. It varies but has always bogged down at some point when the current limit has been set at full load (see below).

The throttle arm is locked over full open. I have manipulated it when running with the rpm decreasing as expected, but not changing the bogging down at all.

I have limited the current through the SAR to 125a and have been running the GS without a hiccup for 3 days (4 hours run time). I have kept the load higher artificially than it would be if just charging batteries by running the water heater off an inverter. Whereas the GS has sometimes bogged down at this level after starting out at full load and running down to where it is limited now, starting out at the 125 limit level appears to allow the GS to not get bogged down.

Could the governor being sticky or something?

Thanks, Dick

Please also see previous post. I have now increased the limit to 135 amps and the GS seems to be running well, 2 cycles of charging, 2= hours run time. Thanks, Dick

I seem to have been lost in the shuffle, in both this and the other thread I stated, and I am not sure how to return to being responded to. Dick

What is the RPM unloaded, and running at 135 Amps?

I am not sure how to get RPM. By ear the change is quite noticable when turning off the SAR and the GS goes unloaded. My memory may be suspect, but I do not remember such a noticable change in the past when it was working correctly. Please suggest how to get RPM figures you wish. Dick

Here's a tach that works by picking up injector pressure pulses. It's been tested here.

Thanks for the info. I have ordered the tach. I will be away from the boat for a few weeks and will pick up the tach during the return to the US. I will be in touch in early Feb. Dick
