Genie 150 Output

I have a Diesel Genie and I am no longer able to obtain a full 150amps DC output. I suspected that perhaps the brushes in the alternator had gone bad so took the Alternator in to a repair shop. They replaced the brushes, tested the diodes, checked all winding and then perform a load test and all is OK. Reinstalled the alternator and still not getting the full output. I have a SARV3 that I initially set to limit at 150amps and would like to know how best to test the alternator/regulator for max output.

The usual reason full output is not occurring is because the battery voltage has reached the ABS set point and can no longer accept full output.

The battery bank is down to 12.45vdc when I start the Genie in the morning. Charge current does not go over 80 amps before it starts dropping slowly. What is preventing the unit from supplying the limited current of 150 amps?

What was the voltage when the unit started to charge?

As soon as the reg kicks in the volts goes to 14.05vdc.

We could have predicted that. Your batteries are not accepting current. If they were, the voltage would not immediately reach 14V.

guess the Deka batteries are no where as good as my old Lifelines! Thanks.

If they are AGM, I don't know.

If they are gel, then you should try the "break in" procedure. See http://www.amplepower.com/primer/break-in/index.html
