Heat Exchanger

Coulomb, you had answered in one of my previous notes to the forum that you were surprised my Genie 150-12 was running so hot. That has finally sunk in and I started looking at the water cooling system for a reason my Genie continues to shut down on high temperature. Here is some data:
Sea water temp at inlet to to heat exchanger is 77F, seawater temp at outlet of heat exchanger is 102F at a glycol temp of 225F. Glycol is a 50/50 mixture. Seawater rate is 2 gal/min at exhaust.

Would you expect the seawater outlet temperature of the heat exchanger to be higher than 102F at a glycol temp of 225F? If so, what could cause the low temperature delta?

There is a bypass hose from one side of the heat exchanger to the other side. What is this for? Let me know if a photo would be helpful.

If someone on the forum has had experience with this heat exchanger, I would appreciate your advice.
