Setting Max Amps

Postby dvkall on Mon Jan 24, 2011 4:09 pm

I have a EMON and the SAR V3 regulator with the Dual controler. I would like to set my alternator to max at 150 amps. I can't find the setting in the EMON manual and when I try to adjust it in the regulator I seem to get no response. Everything else being equal, the regulator appears to work fine running through all 3 stages when I run the generator long enough.

Thanks

The Emon does not provide Amps limit with the SAR V3. You need to do that using the limiting feature of the regulator itself.

Thanks,
Now I've tried a couple of turns (both ways on the SAR). If I turn the screw clockwise all the way is that limiting the amps? Sorry if I'm confused but when I've tried 2 turns one way and then 4 turns the opposite I don't see any results?

Appreciate your website and this form.

Thanks again.

You have to put the internal jumper in place to activate current limiting.

The pot is 10 turns. Clockwise increases current. You won't see a difference when the voltage is at the charge set point, because the demand for current is, by definition, less than the limit value.
