I have install a Smart Alternator regulator in April 2011 , last week wile saling for Vanuatu to Kiribati it burn my batteries by charging it to over 15V. fortunately my Esham sound the alarm and I was able to save my other batteries.
Looking at the regulator I see no evidence of defect (burn contacts).
Which test can I run to confirm that it is workable?
Should I change it all together before putting new batteries in?
This SAR replace a defective next step regulator tat work well for me for more than 10 years , when it fail it simply did not charge. Over charging is very costly It burn one of my sonar .
