Hello
I have a SARV3-12P regulator (can't read the serial any more but it was new in 2010) and use it with a dual alternator controller on 2 alternators to charge my battery bank (4x Lifeline GPL-L16T AGM batteries, together 12V and 800Ah). I use the boat in the tropics, so the temperature is about 30°C - and the batteries do not get hot at all.
The problem I am having is, that when I start the engine, the regulator starts for maybe 30 sec. in bulk charge mode, but then it goes directly in the gas charge mode - at a battery voltage of only 13,2V (checked at the battery and the regulator). At 13,5V it goes already to absorption charge mode - why isn't the bulk charge mode on all the way up to the to 14.x Volts?
The batteries get charged ok in the end - I just dont understand why the charge mode is changing so early.

The voltage does get to 14.x. It happens quickly because the batteries are already charged. The regulator is smart enough not to apply a long ABS cycle when it isn't necessary.

Is there no other explanation? I mean, I have monitored the voltage with my multimeter - that meens it tests 5 times a secound and even has a peek funktion - and I still should have missed the 14.x Volts? That is not very likely.

High battery temperature will cause voltages to be lower.

Ground wires combined rather than run separately per the wiring diagram will cause about 0.6 Volt errors.

Computers fail, but it's very improbable that part of the logic regarding the different cycles has failed.
