dc power surge

Postby paul mosby on Sat Oct 24, 2009 12:03 am

I have a 49 Grand Banks. When I turn on my ac hvac pumps I get a 4-6 amp readout on the dc ammeter. There should be no reason for the cross-over in my mind. I have a pms system from Ample Power. The boat is Bohama IV, previously owned by William Hammond. I believe ample power either installed this system or had it installed. Please let me know as it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Most of the system was installed by the boat builder. When the vessel got to the U.S., Mr. Hammond had his own electrician go through it and fix a few things done incorrectly.
Ample Power helped with the DC system configuration, but didn't install anything.

There are probably some DC operated solenoids valves that are activated to engage the ac pumps, but that's just a guess.
