Alternator connections

Postby markghoughton on Sun Feb 28, 2010 9:02 pm

I bought two of your smart regulators back in august 2008 and am just getting round to wiring one of them to my two alternators on one engine. I first had to remove the engine inorder to re engineer the belt drive from a single V belt per alternator to multigroove flat belts inorder to handle the loads without constant adjustment and belt dust everywhere. I just hope it wont pull the front of the crankshaft off.
However it been some time since I disconnected the alternators and now I see that on my Balmar 210 Amp alternators there are two connections to be made ( apart from the main supply cabling) one is marked F the other O. I would think that F is for field but please can you help me with the O connection, this goes where?

Any help much appreciated

Rather than guess, ask Balmar for the answer.
