1993 ESP

Postby jdenglish on Wed Jul 07, 2010 1:52 pm

Good Afternoon All,
At long last my ESP seems to be terminally confused.
A1, Aux amps, B1-volts, B3-volts, Battery temp read ok.
I am using an Eliminator and the SAR V2.

B1Gauge goes alternately from Full to Empty.
B1-Rem goes from 0.00% to 672.9%

I am currently at anchor in the Sacramento delta with solar panels that generate a peak of 4.5 amps and are controlled by a small solar controller. I will remain here until early October when I move the boat to a slip and connect to shore power via a Heart Interface Freedom 10 Charger/Inverter.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion

John

DON'T turn it off. The menus are stored in memory with a built-in battery, which may no longer be any good.

The unit has probably not had any battery cycling for a very long time, and arithmetic overflow will give you these symptoms.
You can reset all battery parameters and then reprogram and hope that fixes it.

As a last resort, you can disconnect power for a second, but if the internal battery is no good then the ESP becomes a brick.

Is the internal battery hot swapable?
All battery parameters are currently correct per the original installation. Not certain how to reset. What happens when the 11 year old battery bank needs to be replaced?

The battery is inside the memory package and is not replaceable. The ESP is close to 20 years old and the battery is most likely no good.

There is a battery reset menu.

Is there a time line for an ESP or EMON replacement?
