AutoSwitch with steady red light

Postby rflindstrom on Thu Jul 09, 2009 7:55 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a simple question.

I and a friend installed an AutoSwitch in 2000. It has worked perfectly. Recently I installed new batteries. They were charged up and both banks registered over 12 volts. I didn't look at the Switch, but the next day, I noticed a constant red light. The instructions said, the solenoid needed to reset.

The battery charger showed that it was in, float, the lowest of 3 setting. We are getting ready for a three week cruise and the red light is still on and the charger, hooked to shore power, is still in float. Will it reset or do I have a problem?

If the AutoSwitch is being used as a battery parallel device, then the battery voltages are too close for the AutoSwitch to determine what to do. It will probably be OK once the charger is turned off and the battery voltages differ.
