I'm in the process of installing a Genie 12V-150 on my boat. We and our boat are currently in Perth, Australia.
I'm looking at the Genie controller and am wondering if there is not someway for Ample Power to make this unit live up to the same quality as the rest of the Genie equipment? It seems to me that this controller is very exposed in a marine environment, in both the physical as the environmental sense. Do you have any thoughts on that? How about placing the whole unit in a good case with similar connector system as on the SAR v3 and making the red LED so that it can be mounted remotely, again similar to the remote warning light options on the SAR v3. The controller I received is an open circuit board with a clear plastic shield on top, no sides and a very cheap platic piece that barely clips on to the back.
If you already have done some of that would you please let me know, so that I could consider upgrading before I attempt to install this unit? If you have not then please advice as to your suggestion and expectations in mounting this controler efrectively with the expectation of longevity. In my humble view things like this do not survive long in a cruising marine environment.
Kindest Regards
